Divorce affects more than just your marital status; it puts a strain on your emotional well-being, family and friend relationships, finances, and your routines. It is common for you to feel alone, so having access to support throughout this transition can help the overwhelming process feel more manageable. DivorceCare is here to do just that. Through this 13-week support program, you will learn how to navigate all the challenges that a divorce can create. Through practical guidance, group discussions, and forming connections with people who are facing similar circumstances, DivorceCare allows you to begin that healing journey.

DivorceCare is a Christian, faith-based program that is designed to provide people going through separation, currently divorcing, or even struggling after a divorce, with the support they need to push through into this new chapter of their life.

Meetings are often offered through local churches but are also provided online. A typical meeting through DivorceCare will consist of three parts: a video, a group discussion, and time to reflect on what you have learned. The first 30 minutes of the meeting will be the video that features experts on divorce and the recovery process, while offering you ways to manage your emotions and answer any questions you may have. Once the video is complete, you will have the opportunity to speak to others who are also experiencing some of the same feelings you are or have in the past. However, you are not expected to speak during this portion of the meeting and may simply listen until you feel comfortable to participate in conversation.

Throughout the sessions, you will be introduced to a multitude of topics on the emotional and practical hardships that you may encounter throughout your journey to healing. These can range from anger, grief, and loneliness to financial concerns, adjusting to life as a single person, and even legal issues.

Divorce can be a very isolating experience that some of your closest friends and family may not be able to understand fully – because they just haven’t been there. DivorceCare offers you a unique opportunity to meet and connect with individuals who have. The program also relies heavily on structure, which is vital during such an unpredictable time in your life.

DivorceCare is focused on being accessible to all. Often there is only a small, one-time fee that will cover your workbook, snacks, childcare (if offered by your group) and more. Most groups charge $20-$25. Although, some groups are free or will offer a fee waiver if you are unable to pay.

The process of healing following a separation or divorce can take time and feel isolating, but having the correct support system can help make the process feel less overwhelming. By allowing individuals who are going through similar situations to connect and grow together, DivorceCare fosters an environment aimed to help guide you in making progress towards your new life. Divorce may be the end to one chapter, but it does not have to define the rest of your story. With a resource like DivorceCare you can take the step forward with more confidence and hope. Visit the DivorceCare website and enter your zip code to find a support group near you.
